Those are some of my thoughts on the pendants you can give to her and their symbolic significance to me. This leads me to view the booker I'm currently playing as ultimately fixated on the past, deterministically accepting of what is rather than trying to bring about what ought to be. I feel like I chose to view her as grounded to her original destiny, rather than as a liberated bird, free to alter the course of her own life. I saw someone post that they picked cage, because choosing that would help her face her fear for them, the bird represented Songbird, the limiting element that kept her. The cage seemed rather crass, since she had just spent her whole life in one. Selfishly guarded and kept like property for myself against her will. For some reason, my mindset at the time was that I wanted Elizabeth to fly free. I almost felt like I had symbolically decided that she should continue to be coveted and kept locked away from the rest of the world. A friend of mine, Snow Cat Cosplay, needed the cage pendant for her Elizabeth cosplay. This thought occured to me sometime after I had already chosen the Cage pendant for her and I was struck with a slight feeling of guilt upon realizing this. The bird pendant is a hopeful, optimistic representation of what Elizabeth could be. However I think the bird pendant is meant to represent what Elizabeth can and ultimately should be: Free to flourish and spread the joy of her purity to the rest of the world. I think that is what the cage pendant represents and initially that is why I chose it for her over the bird. This is her personification before the game starts and before we free her from her imprisonment. She is pure by her very nature and is kept in bondage by forces much more morally corrupt than she is. She was sheltered from the surrounding world against her will and as a result she took on a coveted sort of persona in my mind. She’ll wear the bird around her neck if you choose that pendant just like she’ll wear the cage if you instead opt for that one. I ended up choosing the cage because I was thinking of Elizabeth as a beautiful, coveted, caged girl. The difference between the bird or cage pendant in Bioshock Infinite is simply what Elizabeth wears. The choices you make throughout the game affect which ending you get.I was wondering about the significance of the two pendants you could give to Elizabeth. A friend of mine, Snow Cat Cosplay, needed the cage pendant for her Elizabeth cosplay. There are three main endings (a good ending, a neutral ending, and a bad ending) along with two possible variations of each. What is the significance of the cage?Ī cage is an enclosure often made of mesh, bars, or wires, used to confine, contain or protect something or someone. The difference between the bird or cage pendant in Bioshock Infinite is simply what Elizabeth wears. ![]() What happens if you choose the bird or the cage? A small part of the game but has a great amount of depth to it and that’s why Bioshock is such a great series. Despite being just one crucial moment in the game, this seemingly simple choice has deeper meanings than what meets the eye. Also it’s reversed symbolism, Bird normally means freedom and cage means no freedom, cage in the game is the notes you play (C.A.G.E) to unlock Elizabeths’ full potential and the bird means Songbird. The game presents players with the decision to choose between placing Elizabeth in a birdcage or giving her a thimble-shaped pendant that symbolizes freedom.
